What Students Are Taught

We teach primarily using a residential model, and follow the State of Michigan Standards for Construction. Students may take construction for 1 or 2 years. In their first year students receive OSHA 10 hour training, and are issued a nationally recognized card and certificate. They also learn how to use hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner, learn the related math, work on employability skills, read prints, and master the related terminology as they work on lab projects in the Career Center labs. As second year students, they have the opportunity to work on the current site project, where they become part of the crew that builds an beautiful new custom home in a nearby subdivision.
